Overhead Chain-Conveyer System PROLONG
PRODUCT USED: AFMT Summary Major manufacturer had a chain conveyer system
experiencing numerous problems caused from lack of satisfactory lubrication.
The lack of lubrication is due to the chain traveling around the plant
and through 3 ovens (with temperatures of up to 550 degrees) required in
finishing the product for distribution. None
of the previous lubricants tried were capable of providing adequate protection. Chain Wear: Tremendous wear required
replacement every 6 months, at a cost of $10,000.00, plus loss of production
during down time. Noise Levels: Lack of lubrication
caused excessively loud noise problem. Product Loss: Annual product scrap rate
of 6% was caused by heavy saturation of chain oil in an attempt to provide
adequate lubrication. Results
After chain was treated with AFMT, applied by drip
method: Chain Wear: Virtual elimination of wear and oil build-up. Noise Level: Drastic reduction in chain noise. Product Loss: Scrap product reduced to virtually zero.
